There were two types of voting machines available to North Stonington voters:

One an optical scanner which most voters used. The second, referred to as the IVS system, allows voters will sight impairment to use this phone/fax audio system You can see a demonstration above.

The IVS System for visually impaired individuals has a Practice & Preview feature:

An audio ballot is available for the public to call and practice. The telephone number is:
1-866-494-8683.

Another innovation this year was “curbside voting” for voters unable to make there way into the polling place.

Their companion could come into the polling place and request two poll workers to attend to their voting needs.

The voter must have identification to prove they are eligible to vote by producing a Connecticut driver’s license, social security card or utility bill addressed to them at their address of record.

The State has gone to great lengths to accommodate eligible voters.
